Polaris Snowmobiles offer an Escape From the Routine
Polaris Snowmobiles has been making machines that not only take you out there, but offer you an escape from the routine at the same time. The first Polaris Snowmobile was made in 1954, in a small machine shop in Minnesota known more for their farm equipment than for snow machines. in fact, no one had ever tried to build a motor powered vehicle on skis.
The owner of the Roseau lumberyard, the snowmobile's buyer demonstrated his new "Snow Machine" and many orders followed that winter. For the first time the company Polaris began to have a mission...five machines were built in the winter of 1954-55 (all of which sold for less than $800), 75 in the winter of 1956-57, and more than 300 in 1957-58.
With each successive machine, Polaris Snowmobiles tried to improve upon their concepts and construction. As they did so, the names changed as well.
